Diego R. Pérez-Salicrup es un ecólogo vegetal que trabaja en el Instituto de Investigación en Ecosistemas y Sustentabilidad de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Está interesado en aplicar los hallazgos de la Ecología Vegetal para informar las prácticas de conservación, manejo y restauración en los bosques. Ha estado estudiando los incendios y sus impactos en la Reserva de la Biosfera de la Mariposa Monarca.

Diego R. Pérez-Salicrup

Diego R. Pérez-Salicrup is a plant ecologist who works at the Institute for Ecosystem and Sustainability Research at the National Autonomous University of México. He is interested in applying findings from Plant Ecology to inform conservation, management and restoration practices in forests. He has been studying fires and their impacts in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve.

Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero

Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero es genetista forestal, profesor-investigador de la Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, en Morelia, Michoacán. Su investigación en años recientes se ha enfocado en desarrollar métodos de reforestación con oyamel (Abies religiosa) considerando cambio climático, incluyendo el uso de migración asistida: reforestar con planta originada de semilla colectada de un sitio con un clima similar al clima proyectado en el futuro para el sitio a reforestar.

Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero

Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero is a forest geneticist professor-researcher at Michoacan’s University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo, in Morelia, Michoacán. His research in recent years has focused on developing reforestation methods with oyamel (Abies religiosa) considering climate change, including using assisted migration: reforesting with plant originating from seed collected from a site with a climate similar to the climate projected in the future for the site to be reforested.

Mónica Missrie

Mónica Missrie es bióloga de la conservación y ha trabajado para la conservación de la mariposa monarca durante más de 25 años. Participó en la expansión de la Reserva de la Biosfera de la Mariposa Monarca en México en 2001 y en la creación del Fondo de Conservación de la Mariposa Monarca, el cual ofreció incentivos a las comunidades locales afectadas por el establecimiento del área protegida. El Fondo opera hasta el día de hoy, apoyando a las comunidades a participar en actividades de sustentables y de conservación. Compagina su labor de conservación trabajando como interprete y traductora en español-inglés, facilitando el entendimiento entre las personas.

Mónica Missrie

Mónica Missrie is a conservation biologist and has worked for monarch conservation for more than 25 years. She was involved in the expansion of the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Mexico in 2001 and the creation of the Monarch Butterfly Conservation Fund which offered incentives to the local communities affected by the establishment of the protected area. The Fund operates to this day, supporting communities to participate in conservation and sustainable activities.  She combines her conservation work with Spanish-English interpreting and translating, bringing understanding between people.
