MBF Grants & Awards
The Monarch Butterfly Fund welcomes proposals from organizations or individuals for projects that support conservation of monarch butterflies and/or their habitat. Most of MBF's funding supports activities focused on protecting the oyamel fir forests in which monarch butterflies overwinter as well as their migration in central Mexico. We do also provide limited support to conservation projects in the United States and Canada.
Projects must address one of the strategic initiatives of MBF: habitat conservation, scientific research and monitoring, education and outreach or sustainable development. Please explore our Projects pages for an idea of what MBF supports.
Grants are awarded in three categories:
- Lincoln Brower Awards to students
- Small Grants Program (up to $2,500)
- Specific Challenges (e.g., Monarch Butterfly Flight Challenge)
Larger initiatives:
We do also provide funding for larger projects and/or multi-year initiatives on a per case basis. To discuss this type of funding, please contact us at mbf@monarchconservation.org with details of your proposal.
